Research excellence is a key indicator of university performance. It is regularly measured by national and global ranking instruments. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) aims to achieve global prominence by showcasing our achievements through publication of impactful findings, innovative solutions and commercialisation of research products.
In line with recent research strategies underlined by UiTM, the Department of Research & Innovation play an integral role in propelling talents to address challenges under our six priority areas through multidisciplinary and translational research. This includes gathering expertise from faculties onto collaborative and synergistic platforms within niche areas and establishing joint research facilities with external parties. Other strategies include expansion of networking and collaboration with private, industrial and international agencies. Notable efforts will also go into the establishment of a Technology & Innovation investment scheme to mobilise all levels of the commercialisation process.
Effective implementation of these strategies was enabled by the recent restructuring of various entities under the Department of Research & Innovation. Among the outcome of the restructuring was the establishment of the UiTM Business Innovation & Technology Commercialisation Centre (BITCOM), which was created as a business organisation dedicated to support Research & Innovation activities for UiTM.
It is hoped that the concerted efforts and calculated steps taken to realise the carefully laid out strategies will create winning breakthrough waves in science and innovation for UiTM.
